Sumiko Wellfleet - MM cartridge with an incredibly realistic, dynamic, and three-dimensional soundstage
Sumiko Wellfleet is an advanced MM cartridge created to reproduce your vinyl records with the greatest possible accuracy, realism, and sense of involvement. Wellfleet is the latest addition to the Oyster series, and it builds on the impressive Moonstone cartridge. Among other things, Sumiko has fine-tuned the suspension on Wellfleet, significantly improving the performance of the elliptical diamond. Combined with the optimized suspension, the existing generator, and the resonance-optimized housing from the rest of the Oyster series, Sumiko has created a new high point in cartridges.
Wellfleet uses a nude-mounted elliptical stylus, which results in a lower moving mass. This provides a faster, more direct, and more precise response from the stylus movement through the cantilever and motor. In purely sonic terms, this leads to a more precise, dynamic, and detailed soundstage.
With Wellfleet, vocals are immediate, clear, and detailed. Backing vocals are easy to distinguish, and it is easy to identify the instruments. The output voltage has been reduced to just 3mV, delivering an impressive "black background" from which all details emerge with the greatest clarity. This creates an incredibly engaging and immersive listening experience that even gives MC cartridges a run for their money.
The recommended tracking force is 2.0 grams, and its ½” mount makes it compatible with the vast majority of turntables and RIAA amplifiers. The cantilever is aluminum with a 0.3 x 0.7 mm nude-mounted elliptical diamond, mounted in a cartridge body with high-quality copper coils.
A cartridge series for quality-conscious vinyl enthusiasts
Rainier, Olympia, Moonstone, and Wellfleet are the latest generation of cartridges in the Oyster series, created for the quality-conscious music lover. It builds on, improves, and refines the sound quality that Sumiko owners have enjoyed for more than 40 years. The four models provide a unique opportunity to experience a "black background" that lets every detail stand out with a clarity normally found only in Moving Coil cartridges.
The new generation in the Oyster series offers the latest innovations in cartridge design, effectively addressing resonance issues. The cartridge body disperses and dissipates resonance, creating a soundstage that is transparent, natural, and detailed. The tonal character is natural, and there is plenty of air around the voices and instruments, making it easy to locate their position in the room.
Great upgrade options
Rainier, Olympia, Moonstone, and Weelfleet have interchangeable styli (cartridge front ends) that fit each other. If you need to step down from Wellfleet at a later time, you can simply replace the stylus with the Rainier or Moonstone model. Investing in a cartridge has never been more future-proof than this.
