Sumiko Rainier - Quiet MM cartridge with a dynamic, natural, and transparent soundstage
Rainier is the entry-level model in Sumiko's latest generation of cartridges in the Oyster series, giving you a big, detailed, and transparent soundstage. The cartridge is designed according to classic principles and innovative technologies, which are evident in the resonance-optimized housing that ensures external resonances are directed away from the motor. This results in a natural soundstage with a hint of warmth, where all the micro-details, nuances, and subtleties of the music are preserved, so the instruments and vocals are clearly positioned and separated.
The recommended tracking force is 2.0 grams, and its ½” mounting makes it compatible with the vast majority of turntables and phono preamps. The cantilever is made of aluminum with a 0.3 x 0.7 mm elliptical stylus profile, mounted in a cartridge body with high-quality copper coils.
A cartridge series for quality-conscious vinyl enthusiasts
Rainier, Olympia, and Moonstone are the latest generation of cartridges in the Oyster series, created for the quality-conscious music lover. It builds on, improves, and refines the sound quality that Sumiko owners have enjoyed for more than 40 years. The three models provide a unique opportunity to experience a "black background" that lets all the details stand out with a clarity normally found only in moving-coil cartridges.
The new generation in the Oyster series offers the latest innovations in cartridge design, effectively addressing resonance problems. The cartridge body disperses and diverts resonance, creating a soundstage that is transparent, natural, and detailed. The tonal character is natural, and there is plenty of air around the voices and instruments, making it easy to locate their position in the room.
Excellent upgrade options
Rainier, Olympia, and Moonstone have interchangeable styli (the front part of the cartridge) that fit each other. If you feel the need to upgrade from Rainier at a later time, you can simply replace the stylus with an Olympia or Moonstone model. It has never been more future-proof or easier to upgrade a cartridge than this.
