Moonstone is a high-quality MM pickup that gives you a detailed and realistic sound reproduction from your vinyls. Sumiko has further reduced the moving mass and the output voltage, so that the sound image becomes rich, deep and three-dimensional. The output voltage is reduced to 3mV to ensure an ultra-low noise level, where the sound is fantastically clear and completely without sharpness and distortion.

With all the latest and most advanced technology, Moonstone delivers a performance that is perfect for those who want high quality without compromising on the budget. You get exceptionally accurate sound reproduction that lets you experience your favorite records all over again.

The recommended needle pressure is 2.0 grams, and its ½” mounting makes it compatible with the vast majority of turntables and RIAA amplifiers. The needle tab is aluminum with a 0.3 x 0.7mm elliptical diamond mounted in a pickup housing with high quality copper coils.

The new generation within the Oyster series features the latest innovations in pickup design that effectively address the issues of resonance. The pickup housing spreads and dissipates the resonance, so that a sound image is created that is transparent, natural and detailed. The sound is natural and there is plenty of air around the voices and instruments, so it is easy to locate their position in the room.

Good upgrade options

Rainier, Olympia, Moonstone, Wellfleet and Amethyst have interchangeable styluses (pickup fronts) that match each other. If you need to upgrade from the Moonstone at a later stage, you can simply swap the stylus for the Wellfleet or Amethyst model. Investing in a pickup truck has never been more future-proof than this one.

Sumiko's facilities are located near the waters where the iconic Oysters are located, which gave rise to the series' name.
