Planar 6 RS Edition is an upgraded version of the Planar 6 from Rega Research, with key components taken directly from the Planar 8 platform. The construction combines a Tancast 8 foam core plinth with metal-reinforced laminate, an RB880 tonearm, and a factory-fitted Nd9 moving magnet cartridge. The drive system is upgraded with a CNC-machined twin pulley and dual Reference EBLT belts, reducing speed deviation and improving pitch stability. Together with the Neo MK2 PSU and 24V synchronous motor, the system delivers precise rotational control with fine adjustment down to 0.01 RPM.

ULTRA-LIGHT AND HIGHLY RIGID PLINTH

The plinth is built with a Tancast 8 foam core, combining low mass with high structural rigidity. The surface is reinforced with aluminium-laminated HPL, increasing torsional stability and reducing energy loss.

Low mass reduces stored energy in the structure, providing better transient response and less coloration from the cabinet.

RB880 TONEARM

The RB880 is a hand-assembled tonearm with precision bearings and optimized mass distribution. The arm is engineered with a focus on low friction and high geometric stability, ensuring precise tracking and minimal mechanical interference.

The included stainless steel counterweight is individually matched for optimal balance and tracking force control.

Nd9 REFERENCE MM CARTRIDGE

Planar 6 RS comes with the Nd9, Rega's most advanced moving magnet cartridge. The combination of a boron cantilever and Fine Line diamond provides high tracking accuracy and extended high-frequency response.

The low-inductance generator and neodymium magnet ensure high resolution and stable signal output without the need for an MC phono preamp.

DRIVE SYSTEM AND SPEED CONTROL

The drive system consists of a CNC-machined twin pulley and two Reference EBLT belts. This solution reduces micro-slip and improves torque transfer to the subplatter.

The Neo MK2 PSU monitors and adjusts the motor speed electronically and allows fine adjustment in 0.01 RPM intervals. This ensures stable pitch and low wow/flutter.

PLATTER AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT

The 16 mm thick dual-layer glass platter is made from opti-white float glass with high flatness and concentrated mass. The construction ensures smooth rotation and effective energy dissipation.

Double Brace Technology connects the tonearm and bearing directly and reduces energy loss between critical components.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION

Planar 6 RS is designed for use with MM phono preamps via a standard RCA connection. It performs optimally in high-end stereo systems where low mechanical noise and precise timing are prioritized.

The external Neo PSU reduces electrical interference in the signal path and improves overall system stability.
