Undistorted and precise bass with brilliant technology

One of the biggest upgrades in the new Kube series is that KEF has equipped it with their patented Music Integrity Engine® (MIE). This is a very advanced DSP, which ensures that all the components in the subwoofer work in perfect harmony with each other and the rest of the construction.

The MIE acts as the brain of the subwoofer, and one of its functions is the so-called Intelligent Bass Extension (iBX), which analyzes the input signals and makes lightning-quick adjustments. The genius of the feature is that it makes the subwoofer play deep, clean and precise at any volume. This is done by expanding the frequency range when you listen at moderate sound pressures, and when you reach the highest sound pressures, the very deepest frequencies are filtered out (SmartLimiter).

However, KEF's innovative technologies do not stop here. The KC92 is also equipped with custom DSP and Smart Distortion Control Technology (SCDT). Through SDCT, the subwoofer detects the movements of the diaphragm via the voice coil and makes precise corrections for non-linear distortions. At the same time, an advanced DSP model of the device constantly compensates for non-linearities, so that the total distortion (THD) is reduced by up to 75%.

Force-cancelling design for basement-deep bass

The two 9" units are placed in a force-cancelling configuration, which means that the cabinet is almost completely free of vibrations. The smart concept works by placing the units in a back-to-back construction, where the units send sound in opposite directions and thus equalize each other's reaction force.Thus, there is no or almost no vibration force in the units or the cabinet, and the result is an incredibly clean sound without distortion.

The principle of force-cancelling also helps to enable the KC92 to cope with a sound pressure of up to 110 dB from its compact and closed cabinet. It's the same sound pressure found in live rock music, and the high sound levels are handled with exceptional control thanks to the 2 x 500 watt amplifiers that hold each unit in an iron grip.

The units' membrane is made up of a special hybrid of aluminum and paper, to which an oversized motor and an advanced ventilation design for the voice coil help to ensure exceptional precision and with minimal distortion.

Folded edge suspension for increased speed and dynamics

The KEF KC92 represents a pioneering approach to improving driver precision and performance. Inspired by the Japanese paper art Origami, KEF has folded the units' suspension in an innovative way, which provides a unique combination of strength and lightness. This allows the driver to manage the internal air pressure of the cabinet with exceptional efficiency, resulting in a more precise and dynamic bass experience. Together with other innovative technologies such as Uni-Core, P-Flex Surround helps to ensure that the KC92 delivers a fast, precise and almost underground bass with full control.

SmartConnect and option for wireless connection

The KC92 also offers a comprehensive range of connectivity options - including the advanced SmartConnect function that automatically optimizes the gain of the signal depending on whether it is a mono or stereo signal being used. It guarantees that you always get the optimal performance, no matter how your system is configured.

The KC92 is also compatible with KEF's smart KW1 adapter, which allows you to make the subwoofer completely wireless. The KW1 adapter makes it possible to transmit sound in true high-res, so you are assured that all details and effects from your favorite films and music are delivered clearly and precisely. It gives you the ultimate freedom to place the KC92 wherever you want, as you are not limited by any cables between the subwoofer and the rest of your system.

The closed cabinet design of the KC92 makes it easy to place the subwoofer in any room, as it has no bass port that needs air around it. At the same time, the KC92 is a particularly elegant and stylish subwoofer with its rounded corners, aluminum diaphragms and high-class finish.

Room Placement EQ for perfect sound everywhere

With the KC92, you are guaranteed perfect sound, no matter where you place it. This is due to KEF's Room Placement EQ, which allows you to adapt the subwoofer to different locations in the room through 5 preset EQ settings. Here you can set the subwoofer depending on whether it is placed freely in the room, against the wall, in the corner, inside a cabinet or in a decidedly apartment mode.
