Stage 220P uses a dual rear-firing bass reflex port to improve airflow from the cabinet. The clever thing about this design is that it helps reduce the turbulence—or "chuffing"—that can occur when air is forced too quickly through narrow openings. Instead, JBL has ensured that the air can flow more freely and evenly out of the cabinet, reducing distortion and improving bass precision. This provides a much more linear and controlled bass response, which is essential for clear and clean sound reproduction that can truly be heard at the low frequencies.

12" Polycellulose ribbed woofer

Each speaker in the Stage 2 series is equipped with Polycellulose ribbed cone woofers. These cones, made from pure paper pulp with a unique blend of other materials, improve rigidity and echo JBL’s legendary designs. Dual rear-firing bass reflex ports

220P’s Bass-Reflex design uses dual rear-firing bass reflex ports. This design reduces the speed of the air as it leaves the subwoofer, eliminating any noise or coloration of the output and ensuring clear and powerful bass.

Easy integration with your receiver

The rear-mounted controls include a variable low-pass 50-150Hz crossover, so you can precisely adjust the subwoofer to match your main channels. You can also, of course, adjust the phase and volume, allowing you to tailor the subwoofer’s output to your system and room conditions. 

The power can be set to always on or to the convenient Auto function, which automatically turns the subwoofer on and off depending on whether an input signal is detected. The LFE input bypasses the subwoofer’s internal low-pass filter and is ideal when the subwoofer is connected to a receiver-processor with its own low-pass filter settings.

Stable and adjustable spikes

The floor spikes on the 220P ensure stability when you place the subwoofer on a thick carpet. The carpet spikes can easily be screwed into each foot on the speaker’s plinth and adjusted from the top, providing optimal placement and performance.

Magnetically attached front grille

The Stage 2 series is equipped with premium details such as magnetically attached grilles, unique trim rings, and the floating front baffle design - exclusive features that are not normally found on speakers in this price range.
