Developed and manufactured at the factory in Aalborg

All components are - just like Børresen’s other models - developed and manufactured in-house. This provides an unusual degree of control over both construction and acoustic performance. A good example is the speaker drivers, where traditional iron in the magnet system has been removed to avoid distortion. The result is a completely iron-free, magnetically precisely centered driver with extremely low inductance – something rarely seen in the industry.

The diaphragm is built as an advanced sandwich construction with ultra-thin carbon fiber layers around a Nomex honeycomb core. This provides an optimal combination of low weight and high rigidity, ensuring precise and controlled movement – even with complex signals.

The tweeter is a further development of a classic principle, but elevated to a new level. With a moving mass of just 0.01 grams and a powerful magnet system, it delivers extremely fast and precise reproduction – without the artifacts and distortion normally associated with treble reproduction. The result is an exceptionally clean and uncolored top end, where the details stand out clearly without being artificially emphasized.

Technology: Extensive cryogenic treatment

Even parts such as the crossover have been rethought. Advanced electronics are used here to stabilize the signal and further reduce distortion. At the same time, all metal parts undergo extensive cryogenic treatment down to -196°C, which changes the structure of the material and reduces internal stress. This results in improved conductivity and even more stable performance.

What you don’t hear

The most remarkable thing about the Z5 Cryo Edition is not what you hear – but what you don’t hear.

There is no artificial emphasis, no exaggerated bass, and no affected warmth. Instead, you get an extremely honest reproduction, where the speakers adapt to the music, the room, and the rest of your system.
