Børresen IronFree5 Titanium SSE driver

Børresen has equipped the Silver Supreme Edition of the T-series speakers with 5” drivers featuring titanium baskets. This material provides both high strength and effective damping properties. Using computer-optimized FEM calculations, Børresen has 3D-optimized the shape of the baskets. This ensures that the baskets do not impede the airflow from the diaphragm’s rearward movement. The result is that the baskets remain acoustically invisible and contribute to a cleaner sound experience.

PATENTED IRONLESS MAGNET MOTOR 

Børresen has replaced the copper rings in the speaker with handmade silver rings, specially designed by Børresen itself. This significantly reduces inductance. Even before that, the inductance in Børresen speakers is about 10 times lower than in conventional models, but in the Silver Supreme Edition it is as much as 12 times lower. All metal components undergo cryogenic treatment, which further reduces inductance by 6–8%. The result is a pure, clear, and refined soundstage that places the Silver Supreme Edition firmly in the absolute high-end class and sets an entirely new standard.

T-series diaphragm

Børresen has developed a diaphragm consisting of three layers laminated into one unified structure. An aramid honeycomb core sits between two layers of spread-tow carbon fiber. This combination creates a moving surface with exceptional properties. The carbon fiber layers ensure high stiffness in multiple directions. The aramid core has impressive vertical stiffness relative to its weight. Børresen has also added graphene and boron whiskers to the epoxy that bonds the layers together. This strengthens the bonds between the carbon fibers and makes the entire diaphragm stronger and more stable—without adding weight. The result is a very lightweight, yet stiff and low-noise diaphragm.

Cryogenic treatment for an optimal soundstage

Børresen uses cryogenic treatment for all metal parts of the speaker to ensure a further significant improvement in conductivity. When metal parts undergo cryogenic treatment, they are exposed to extreme cooling. In this process, the metal structure contracts more and more. Alloying elements are pushed out of the grain structure of the metal, which then becomes much more like a monocrystal. The result is that the metal component becomes stronger, internal stress during solidification from liquid to solid form is reduced, and conductivity is increased.

Børresen has used advanced FEM calculations to make the magnetic field more linear and efficient. This gives the driver easier movement, high efficiency, and precise reproduction. The tweeter has an efficiency of no less than 94 dB and plays from approximately 2.5 kHz and up. The moving mass weighs only 0.01 grams, making the tweeter extremely fast. This is crucial for reproducing even the finest details in the music. The tweeter is built to withstand very high levels without distortion. It can handle powerful transients without causing listening fatigue. Børresen has completely avoided the use of transformers in the design.

Crossover - unique and technically advanced solution

Børresen speakers are equipped with series crossovers. This means that the drivers share the same electrical current in the crossover region. As a result, the current remains phase-locked when the signal shifts between the drivers. Unlike common parallel crossovers, where each driver receives its own frequency and phase signal, the series crossovers route signals outside the operating range around the drivers. This creates a far more coherent system. This unique and technically advanced solution elevates the music experience to a new level.

For the crossover, Børresen has selected some of the most advanced components on the market. The coils are foil-type, wound with paper insulation and vacuum-impregnated with epoxy resin. This gives them very high mechanical stability. The capacitors are built from small military-spec stack-foil types. They offer the best mechanical stability and the lowest inductance on the market—and they sound fantastic. For tweeter attenuation, Børresen uses resistors with metal strips. They have a significantly lower noise level than other types and change only minimally with temperature variations.

Advanced cabinet design for maximum performance 

The Børresen T-series combines high-gloss lacquer with real wood veneer. Solid wood bracing, milled from blocks, and carbon-fiber reinforcements increase both rigidity and airflow. A rear-facing venting system ensures that the drivers can release pressure efficiently. This reduces distortion and the build-up of excess pressure in the cabinet. The cabinet construction is carefully thought out and delivers an open, spacious, and dynamic sound. At the same time, the speaker has a modern and elegant look—and takes up minimal space in the room.
