Børresen A1 – compact standmount speaker with advanced Børresen technology
Børresen A1 is a compact standmount speaker for those who want to experience Børresen's speaker technology in a format that is easier to integrate into the home. A1 is part of Børresen's A series, positioned between the X and C series.
Here, Børresen's RP94 planar ribbon tweeter is combined with the newly developed DCC5s woofer/midrange driver. The design focuses on low mass, high rigidity, and precise control of the drivers' movements. With a sensitivity of 89 dB, an impedance above 6 ohms, and a frequency range from 45 Hz to 50 kHz, Børresen A1 also offers excellent possibilities for building a complete hi-fi system around the speaker.

Børresen A1 with RP94 planar ribbon tweeter
A key part of the technology in Børresen A1 is found in the RP94 tweeter. It operates from approximately 2.5 kHz and up and has a sensitivity of 94 dB.
The diaphragm is made of nylon/aramid with an aluminum surface and has a moving mass of just 0.01 grams. The very low mass allows the diaphragm to respond quickly to small changes in the signal. The design is developed to reproduce transients and fine details, while the tweeter functions as an integrated part of the speaker's overall performance.
DCC5s woofer/midrange driver with low mass and high rigidity
Bass and midrange are handled by Børresen's newly developed DCC5s driver. The diaphragm has a sandwich construction with an aramid honeycomb core between two layers of carbon fiber. This combination provides high rigidity and low weight, allowing the diaphragm to move quickly while controlling unwanted resonances in its operating range.
The motor system uses ferrite magnets and dual copper caps that reduce inductance around the voice coil. The voice coil itself is mounted on a lightweight and rigid titanium former.
The technology has one central purpose: The driver must be able to start and stop quickly and follow the music signal as precisely as possible.
Focus on resonance control throughout the speaker
Børresen has not only worked on the drivers themselves. The cabinet in the A1 is developed with a focus on damping and resonance control, while the crossover is optimized for coherence and low signal loss.
Børresen A1 is also prepared for Ansuz Darkz, which can be placed between the speaker and the surface beneath it for additional mechanical resonance control. Darkz is an optional accessory and is not necessary to use the speaker.
Without the stand, the A1 measures 41.7 × 21.1 × 44.6 cm, and Børresen recommends an amplifier of more than 50 watts. This variant is finished in Satin Walnut in real wood veneer, giving the compact cabinet a warm, furniture-oriented look.
