Audiovector QR 3 SE - Infinite amount of speaker for the price
The new QR 3 SE is a slim and compact 2½-way loudspeaker that defies the laws of physics with its big, rich and detailed sound. These speakers are able to play incredibly loud without the sound being compressed or lacking air at the top. Instead, you will be impressed by how speakers with such a small physical footprint can fill even large rooms with a bass you don't normally see in this price range. The bass is indeed deep and extremely dynamic, in contrast to many other competitors', which are thinner in the bass area. The sound profile of the QR 3 SE makes it a true reproducer of the music and a versatile speaker capable of playing all kinds of music with incredible conviction.
“ The QR3's lets you discover the unique qualities of the high-end brand Audiovector at an accessible price. Their size and design make these slim columns a great choice if you are looking for something discreet yet very stylish. But the purist will also discover a loudspeaker with a lot of talent! Among other things, the flowing midrange and a direct presentation that gives vocals a clear placement on a wide stage, are things that make these Danes a good entry to the middle segment .” - Jamie Biesemans, FWD.nl
"I started the session with Youn Sun Nah playing the track La Chanson D'Helene and instantly the goosebumps appeared. Her voice is beautiful, the bass is surprisingly rich and detailed. Her vocal creates a clear and sharp contour against the black silent background. The QR 3's grab you and guide you into the music whether you want it or not. You really feel relaxed with these loudspeakers ." - STEREOPLUS (NO) - Håvard Holmedal.

The SE series offers significant improvements
Compared to its predecessor, the new SE model offers an even more open, dynamic and detailed sound reproduction. It's a very clear and audible improvement that can easily be heard in an A/B demonstration.
The improvements in the SE series include, among other things, a new crossover that has better characteristics in the bass and midrange response frequency. All the internal wires are now cryogenically treated, where they have been frozen to -236 degrees. The new high-precision vibration optimized capacitors have even been double cryogenically treated to reduce resistance and improve signal transfer. The result is a high-precision component that improves the treble range.
Audiovector has also improved the damping inside the cabinets using NanoPore™, which until now has only been used in the most exclusive and much more expensive Audiovector models. The SE series has optimized the damping factor, which improves the dynamic and aperiodic performance. They also got new ones precision milled spikes with a knurled counter screw for easy adjustment.
Much more than a larger QR 1 SE
If you're thinking that the QR 3 SE is just a bigger speaker with more units than the QR 1 SE, you'd be wrong. The QR 3 SE is its very own speaker, because there are only the devices that it has in common with its smaller sister. In the construction of the QR 3 SE, a bracing has been used that has similarities to that seen inside the much larger and more expensive SR series. Here they have made a bracing between the midrange and the bass unit, which is closed with two foam blocks and creates a kind of acoustic valve that makes it possible to control the bass inside the cabinet. At the same time, there are stiffeners just behind the units, which fix them completely to the cabinet, which is crucial for the units to work optimally. In order for it not to be a lie, there are additional braces at the bottom of the bass cabinet, and it is therefore unheard of that such thorough cabinet work has been carried out in this price range. This underlines how careful and relentless Audiovector are with their quality and sound. They do not compromise!
The units complete the work
There is a reason why the Kliforth family has put so much effort and thought into the cabinet - it creates the optimal working conditions for the units, which they themselves have helped to develop. Everything Audiovector does is thought of as a whole, and this is what creates the perfect synergy and harmony that characterizes their loudspeakers.
In these mid-sized speakers sits a Golden Leaf Air Motion Tweeter, which is made to Audiovector's specifications and lifts the speakers to a level that was completely unthinkable just a few years ago. The ribbon tweeter ensures that the top sounds incredibly energetic, enthralling and with plenty of air around it. It all appears crystal clear, which i.a. is due to the S-stop filter, which sits in front of the treble and removes all hissing sounds, and makes the instruments sound as they should. This means that the QR 3 SE has many of the features that the more expensive SR 1 Avantgarde and SR 3 Arreté have - just at a fraction of the price.
The midrange and bass units have also been developed based on Audiovector's wishes and consist of two layers of aluminum separated by a foam adhesive with internal damping properties. This 3-layer sandwich membrane means that the sound is neither colored nor distorted, and it gives a sound that is both warm, precise, detailed and incredibly dynamic. This driver design Audiovector calls its Pure piston dual magnet bass driver because it makes the units run like a perfect piston throughout its frequency range. As a result of this design, the midrange is also able to travel much higher up the frequency range than traditional aluminum units, which stop at 800 Hz, which is a huge advantage. This means that the crossover must not be activated at 800 Hz, which is one of the most critical frequency ranges for our hearing, but must only be activated when the units cross 3kHz.
Another advantage of Audiovector doing the specs on their units themselves is that they can make incredibly simple crossovers, and that makes the speakers much easier to drive for the amplifier. Even the smallest amplifiers will be able to drive the QR 3 SE with an impressive result, but as with all other quality components, they will only sound even better when matched with other quality components. Match the QR 3 SE with a Naim Uniti Atom , and then you have a seriously well-playing system for the next many, many years.
