What we particularly think makes ATH-AL5NC interesting is the open design. While most wireless headphones enclose the ear, ATH-AL5NC lets you maintain more contact with your surroundings. At the same time, the specially developed 53 mm drivers are designed to create the wide and natural soundstage that Audio-Technica associates with its open headphones. This also means they are not made to isolate you completely from the world around you - and at higher volumes, others will be able to hear some of what you are playing. For the home, the office, or other quiet surroundings, that very characteristic can, on the other hand, be a big part of the experience.

Made for many hours of listening

An open design also has a practical advantage: Less heat builds up around the ears. ATH-AL5NC weighs only 240 grams, and the ear pads are designed to rest lightly around the ears without strong clamping pressure. The battery lasts up to 75 hours on a single charge, so you do not need to pull out the charger every other day. If you are in a hurry, 15 minutes of charging provides up to 8 hours of playback. With the noise reduction function activated, Audio-Technica states up to 50 hours of battery life and around 5 hours of playback after 15 minutes of fast charging.

From music and work to gaming

ATH-AL5NC has a built-in microphone for, among other things, online meetings and communication during gaming. Via the Audio-Technica Connect app, you can customize various functions and activate Low Latency Mode, which reduces the delay between picture and sound for gaming and video. A special noise reduction function can also reduce annoying background sounds such as ventilation, traffic, and other constant sounds in the home. It is worth distinguishing it from traditional closed ANC headphones: ATH-AL5NC is still an open headphone, so the idea is not to shut out the surroundings completely.

Wireless for everyday use - cable when you want it

Although wireless freedom is a central part of ATH-AL5NC, you are not dependent on the battery or Bluetooth every time you want to listen. Audio-Technica includes a 1.2 meter cable with a 3.5 mm stereo plug, microphone, and controls, so the headphones can also be used with a traditional wired connection. This provides a flexibility we like: Use them wirelessly when you are moving around or working at the computer, and connect the cable when it suits the source you are listening from better.
