KECES P9 – linear power supply for your hi-fi system
KECES P9 is for those who already have the most important components of their hi-fi system in place and now want to keep working on the power supply for, for example, a streamer, DAC, or network equipment. Here you get a linear power supply with two separate DC outputs, an in-house toroidal transformer, and a design where KECES has put a lot of effort into keeping electrical noise down. What is interesting is not only the technical solutions, but what they are meant to do for the rest of the system: give the connected electronics stable, low-noise operating conditions, so the power supply gets in the way of the music as little as possible.

When the power supply becomes part of the hi-fi system
An external power supply may not be the first thing that comes to mind when upgrading a hi-fi system, but it has a very fundamental task. The streamer, DAC, or network component depends on the electrical conditions it is given. KECES P9 is therefore built around a toroidal transformer that KECES manufactures itself, and a fully discrete circuit design inspired by the larger P28. The design has been developed with a focus on stable power delivery and low ripple, so the connected electronics get the lowest-noise operating conditions possible.
Two DC outputs provide flexibility in the system
What we especially think makes the KECES P9 interesting is the possibility of powering multiple compatible components from the same linear power supply. The two separate DC outputs can each deliver up to 5 A continuously, with a stated peak capacity of up to 7 A. This makes the P9 relevant for, for example, streamers, DACs, Roon Core, routers, turntables, and other hi-fi and network equipment that can be powered by an external DC power supply.
Each output has a separate ground, which is intended to reduce interference between the connected components, and an extra ground terminal provides additional options for working with grounding in the system. As always with external power supplies, voltage, polarity, plug type, and current requirements must be checked before connecting the equipment.
Thought through all the way through the design
KECES has not only focused on the transformer itself. The P9 uses gold-plated DC terminals, OCC silver cable in the AC power module, and PCBs with 2 oz copper, where the choice of materials has been made with a focus on stable power transfer and good electrical connections. At the same time, OTP overtemperature protection is built in, and the design has been developed for stable operation without annoying hum and noise under high load.
The P9 is manufactured at KECES' own factory in Taiwan, where the company itself handles, among other things, transformer production, internal wiring, assembly, and final testing. This gives KECES control over the entire process and makes the P9 an interesting linear power supply for those who want to work more purposefully with the power supply for the sensitive components in a hi-fi system.
