JBL DA1650 – 16-channel amplifier for audio throughout the home

JBL DA1650 is a 16-channel distribution amplifier for larger integrated audio systems, where multiple speakers and rooms need to be powered from one central solution. The 16 channels are divided across 8 stereo zones, so you can, for example, bring audio together in the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and other areas within the same installation.

Each zone can receive its own audio signal, while the global input makes it possible to distribute the same audio source to all zones. Class D amplification and a compact 1U rack design also make the JBL DA1650 well suited for installations where many speakers need to be integrated without taking up unnecessary space in the rack.

JBL DA1650 delivers audio to up to eight stereo zones

With eight separate stereo zones, the JBL DA1650 offers great flexibility for building an integrated audio system tailored to the different rooms in the home. Each zone can receive its own signal, allowing the rooms to function as independent parts of the installation.

If the same audio source needs to play in multiple zones, the global audio input can instead distribute the signal across the system. This makes the amplifier flexible in installations where audio needs to be discreetly integrated into multiple parts of the home.

Bridging provides extra flexibility

The 16 Class D channels do not need to function exclusively as eight stereo pairs. The outputs can be bridged so that stereo channels are combined into mono outputs when the installation requires it.

This provides greater freedom to configure the system according to the individual zones and speakers rather than building every room the same way. The JBL DA1650 also features integrated overcurrent and temperature protection.

Compact 1U design for larger installations

JBL DA1650 takes up only one rack unit and has a flat-stackable construction, allowing multiple units to be efficiently integrated into larger audio installations.

If the installation needs more than eight zones with the same audio source, the signal can be passed on via the global audio output to additional DA1650 amplifiers. This means the system can be expanded if the need for more zones grows.

JBL developed the DA1650 for use with JBL architectural speakers. The combination is particularly relevant for discreet, integrated audio systems where speakers and electronics become a natural part of the home.
