R45 - Flagship Floorstanding Loudspeaker
The R45 is the top model in ARCAM’s Radia series and is designed as a full-scale 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker with three 6.5” MCC woofers, a dedicated 6.5” DCC midrange driver, and a 1” DCC aluminum dome tweeter in an Acoustic Lens waveguide. With a specified frequency response down to 30 Hz and up to 40 kHz, 6 ohms nominal impedance, and 88 dB sensitivity, the R45 is designed to deliver high dynamic capacity, controlled low-frequency response, and precise phase integration in larger listening rooms. It is optimized for amplifiers in the 20–250W class and pairs with the ARCAM SA45 and the Radia AV series.

TRIPLE 6.5” BASS SECTION
The R45 uses three 165 mm MCC woofers to maximize cone area and reduce the load per driver. This provides higher headroom, lower distortion, and better control at high sound pressure levels.
The ceramic composite structure of the MCC cones reduces breakup and ensures linear movement in the critical bass range. Overall, the design delivers deep and controlled bass down to 30 Hz without an external subwoofer in many systems.
DEDICATED 6.5” MIDRANGE
The separate DCC midrange operates from 275 Hz to 1.7 kHz and isolates the vocal and instrument range from the bass section. This reduces intermodulation distortion and improves clarity and precision in the midrange.
The larger midrange driver ensures greater dynamic stability and better integration with the bass section compared with smaller models in the series.
DCC TWEETER WITH ACOUSTIC LENS
The 25 mm aluminum dome tweeter is integrated into an Acoustic Lens waveguide, which controls the dispersion characteristics and optimizes energy distribution in the room.
The waveguide improves phase integration with the midrange driver and ensures uniform off-axis response, providing stable imaging and precise placement in the stereo soundstage.
CABINET AND STRUCTURAL STABILITY
The cabinet construction is internally braced to minimize panel resonances and ensure mechanical integrity under high load. The larger cabinet volume supports extended low-frequency response and higher acoustic output.
Dual rear bass-reflex ports are precisely tuned to deliver deep extension without unwanted port noise or overhang.
SYSTEM INTEGRATION
With 6 ohms impedance and 88 dB sensitivity, the R45 requires a current-capable amplifier for optimal control, especially in larger rooms. It is fine-tuned for optimal performance with ARCAM SA45 and Radia AV components through anechoic calibration.
The R45 is designed for medium-sized and larger rooms where full-scale dynamics and linear reproduction are prioritized without the need to compromise on output.
POSITIONING
The R45 was developed as the reference floorstanding loudspeaker in the Radia series. It delivers extended low-frequency response, high dynamic capacity, and precise phase integration in a technically accomplished 3-way design.
