R25 - Bookshelf Loudspeaker

The R25 is the largest and most capable bookshelf speaker in ARCAM’s Radia series, designed as a serious alternative to floorstanding speakers in compact high-end systems. With a 6.5” (165 mm) Micro Ceramic Composite woofer, a 1” DCC aluminum dome tweeter integrated into an Acoustic Lens waveguide, and a precision-optimized crossover at 1.7 kHz, the R25 delivers extended low-frequency response down to 43 Hz and linear reproduction up to 40 kHz. It is developed to perform optimally with the ARCAM SA35 and SA45, but pairs well with any current-stable amplifier in the 15–200W class.

MCC WOOFER WITH INCREASED CONE AREA

The larger 165 mm MCC driver provides increased displacement and better control in the lower frequency range compared with the R15. The cone’s ceramic composite structure reduces breakup and ensures more linear movement under load.

The dual rear-facing ports are precisely tuned to extend bass response without introducing overhang or unwanted port noise.

DCC TWEETER WITH ACOUSTIC CONTROL

The 25 mm aluminum dome tweeter is mounted in an integrated waveguide that controls the dispersion characteristics and improves integration with the woofer. The waveguide ensures consistent off-axis response and stable imaging in the room.

The relatively low crossover frequency of 1.7 kHz contributes to better phase coherence and a more seamless transition between the drivers.

CABINET AND MECHANICAL DAMPING

The cabinet construction is internally braced to reduce panel resonances. The increased cabinet volume compared with the R15 provides better low-frequency extension and greater dynamic headroom.

The Black Walnut veneer finish combines mechanical stability with a discreet premium aesthetic. The magnetic front grille ensures a clean look with no visible mounting points.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION

With 6 ohm impedance and 85.5 dB sensitivity, the R25 requires a current-stable amplifier for optimal control. It is fine-tuned to work seamlessly with ARCAM Radia electronics through anechoic calibration, but also integrates effortlessly into other high-performance systems.

It is well suited to larger rooms where a compact yet fully capable two-way speaker is desired without moving up to a floorstanding format.

POSITIONING

The R25 is designed for installations and systems where linear response, controlled dynamics, and extended low-frequency performance are prioritized. It offers greater scale and a deeper foundation than the R15, without compromising precision or phase control.
