Scansonic MB6B - The floor speaker for the audiophile

The MB6B is Scansonic's flagship speaker. Tall, slim and elegantly curved, it follows the central traditions of Danish loudspeaker design. The design is centered around the ultra-light, sealed moving-mass ribbon tweeter that has unique speed, resolution and dynamic transient capability. This provides a very transparent and very detailed reproduction of the finest details in the program material.

The MB6B features a powerful array of 6 x 5.25″ dynamic drivers with carbon fiber membranes.

The inner pair of units cover the midrange up to where the treble takes over, and as you move out from the middle, the units cover more and more of the lower registers.

In the deepest bass possible, the combined units will have a total membrane area larger than a 12″ woofer, but still with the same speed and agility as the smaller woofers. This makes the MB6 B an excellent speaker, even in the deepest bass.

The MB6B is an incredible music performer with an impact and authority that will leave you breathless.

About the MB series

Cabinets:

The internal construction has an optimized airflow, which together with the minimalist use of damping material creates a very dynamic and linear low frequency reproduction.

The ported cabinet is tuned for optimal impulse response, resulting in a linear, dynamic and detailed reproduction of the lowest frequencies, while making it very easy and versatile to place the speaker in the room.

Units:

Bass and midrange units have been equipped with a low-loss voice coil, which greatly improves the dynamic characteristics and extends the frequency response in the bass range. A very good side effect of this is that the playtime has been reduced significantly (about 100 hours).

Partition filter:

The crossover is designed to give a very linear and natural sound, which is clearly audible throughout the series.

The result is a speaker that not only provides a big and precise soundstage - it also has timing that will make your feet tap and put a big smile on your face!
