JBL HDI-3800 - A formidable floor speaker

The HDI-3600 is the largest floorstanding speaker in JBL's HDI range, and it can certainly be heard. Here, the sound reproduction really hits, which is both large, dynamic and accurate at the very highest sound pressures. This feat is due to the speaker's 2.5-way design and 3 x 8" aluminum diaphragm woofers, which handle frequency ranges far higher than normally seen. This means that the top 8" aluminum unit goes all the way up to 1800 Hz, and it gives it a fantastic open midrange that really brings out the vocal performances. The two bottom 8" woofers start from 800 Hz and down, where they play with a power rarely experienced. Something else that makes this speaker something very special is the patented 1" 2410H-2 tweeter, which is mounted in JBL's High Definition Imaging waveguide. What this waveguide does is spread the sound much better, so you get a much larger "sweetspot". This gives you a perfect stereo image, no matter where you sit.

The design features a sophisticated and curved cabinet, which JBL has stiffened in special areas so that the internal resonances are reduced to a negligible level. The front grille is black and magnetically attaches for easy installation and removal, and the speaker is available in a beautiful high-gloss black, gray oak veneer and walnut veneer to complete the luxurious look. On the back, two bass reflex ports are mounted, which do their job to perfection, and there is also the possibility of bi-wiring if you wish.
