Børresen has equipped the T5 Silver Supreme Edition with 8" units, where the baskets are made of titanium. This material provides both high strength and effective damping properties. Using computer-optimized FEM calculations, Børresen has 3D-optimized the shape of the baskets. This ensures that the baskets do not impede the airflow from the membrane's backward movements. The result is that the baskets remain acoustically invisible and contribute to a cleaner sound experience. Børresen IronFree8 SSE 8" is a sharpened version of the 0-series driver. This cryo-treated driver has a different membrane, similar to the one used for the M-series. The spread tow membrane, which we know from the M-series, is without the extra titanium layer. The aim is to provide more punch in the low frequencies, while maintaining the speed needed to match our RP94 ribbon tweeter. The result is a sound that flows freely and effortlessly.

PATENTED IRONLESS MAGNETIC MOTOR

Børresen has replaced the copper rings in the speaker with handmade silver rings, specially designed by Børresen himself. This reduces the inductance significantly. The inductance in Børresen speakers is already approximately 10 times lower than in conventional models, but in the Silver Supreme Edition it is a full 12 times lower. All metal components undergo a cryogenic treatment, which further reduces the inductance by 6-8%. The result is a clean, clear and refined sound image, placing the Silver Supreme Edition in the absolute high-end and setting a completely new standard.

T-series diaphragm

Børresen has developed a membrane that consists of three layers, laminated into one unit. An aramid honeycomb core is sandwiched between two layers of spread tow carbon fiber. The combination provides a moving surface with unique properties. The carbon fiber layers ensure high stiffness in multiple directions. The aramid core has an impressive stiffness to weight ratio in the vertical direction. Børresen has also added graphene and boron whiskers to the epoxy that binds the layers together. This reinforces the connections between the carbon fibers and makes the entire membrane stronger and more stable – without adding weight. The result is a very light, yet stiff and quiet membrane.

Cryogenic treatment for optimal sound image

Børresen uses cryogenic treatment of all metal parts of the speaker to ensure further significant improvement in conductivity. When metal parts undergo cryogenic treatment, they are exposed to extreme cooling. In this process, the metal structure contracts more and more. Alloying elements are pushed out of the grain structure of the metal, which now becomes very similar to a single crystal. The result is that the metal component becomes stronger, the internal stress during solidification from liquid to solid is reduced, and the conductivity increases.

The Børresen tweeter

Børresen has used advanced FEM calculations to make the magnetic field more linear and efficient. This gives the unit easier movement, high efficiency and precise reproduction. The tweeter has an efficiency of a whopping 94 dB and plays from approximately 2.5 kHz and up. The moving mass weighs only 0.01 grams, which makes the tweeter extremely fast. This is crucial for reproducing even the finest details in the music. The tweeter is built to withstand very high levels without distortion. It can handle powerful transients without causing listening fatigue. Børresen has completely avoided the use of transformers in the design.

Crossover - unique and technically advanced solution

Børresen loudspeakers are equipped with crossovers in series. This means that the units share the same electrical current in the crossover area. The result is that the current remains phase-locked when the signal changes between the units. Unlike conventional parallel filters, where each unit receives its own frequency and phase signal, the serial filters route signals outside the working area around the units. This creates a much more coherent system. This unique and technically advanced solution takes the music experience to a new level.

For the crossover, Børresen has selected some of the market's most advanced components. The coils are of the foil type, wound with paper insulation and vacuum impregnated with epoxy resin. This gives them very high mechanical stability. The capacitors are made of small military-specification stack-foil types. They have the best mechanical stability and lowest induction on the market – and they sound fantastic. To attenuate the treble, Børresen uses resistors with metal strips. They have a significantly lower noise level than other types and change minimally with temperature changes.

Bi-amping for better sound quality

Bi-amping allows you to send power separately to the woofer and to the mid/high range. This not only gives each section more power, but also a cleaner and more precise sound. Børresen has designed this speaker with two forms of bi-amping in mind. The first is passive bi-amping, where the crossover in the speaker controls the frequency division between bass and mid/high. The frequency is carefully tuned to ensure optimal performance.

The second option is active bi-amping with an external crossover. Here you can adjust the crossover frequency yourself so that the speaker fits the acoustics of your listening room precisely. You get full control over both the bass level and the balance between bass and midrange/treble. For this purpose, our sister company, Aavik Acoustics, has developed a high-end analog active filter that works perfectly with the new speaker models from Børresen. This gives you a listening experience with maximum precision and clarity. The active filter from Aavik is found in several of their amplifiers.

Advanced cabinet design for maximum performance

The Børresen T-series combines high-gloss lacquer with real wood veneer. Solid wood, milled into blocks, and carbon fiber reinforcements increase both rigidity and airflow. A rear-facing ventilation system ensures that the units can get rid of pressure effectively. This reduces distortion and counteracts the build-up of excess pressure. The cabinet construction is carried out down to the smallest detail. The result is an open, spacious and dynamic sound. At the same time, the speaker maintains an elegant, modern expression – and takes up minimal space in the room.

Tesla Coil Principle

The principle is based on two coils wound in opposite directions – a coil and a counter coil. Ansuz calls it a “double inverted coil”. Both coils carry voltage, and when the Tesla coil detects a noise spike, a counter spike is activated, removing the noise. Since noise spikes are pure voltage and almost without charge, the suppression is very effective – but not completely complete. By adding more P-TC coils in parallel, the effect is significantly increased. This solution provides a clearly improved experience of silence and black background in music. Ansuz Tesla coils are available in different variants, which complement each other in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

Active Square Tesla Coils

The active square Tesla coils are built directly into the printed circuit boards – with one coil on the front and a counter coil on the back. The principle is the same as in the active Tesla coils and provides significantly better noise reduction than the passive variants.

Analog Dither Technology 3rd Generation

The third generation of Ansuz analog dither technology ensures an even greater improvement in sound quality by amplifying the musical signal and reducing background noise, providing an even more detailed and open sound experience.
