Streaming has been one of the major focus areas, and that's why the Focus 10 can literally play everything digital. The wireless speaker is equipped with Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Roon, Bluetooth and local network functions, so you can play digital content online or on your network hard drive at home.

The built-in WiSA technology also allows the speakers to connect wirelessly to a compatible TV or USB dongle. This eliminates the need for a large home theater, so you suddenly have space in your living room. And the beauty is that it's all so simple. There's minimal setup time, with just two cables to the wall sockets, and an intuitive app to customize and set presets. It's never been faster or easier to go from unboxing to hearing true audiophile sound.

A new way of listening

An active speaker doesn't mean a single amplifier per speaker. It means a single amplifier per unit. For the Focus 10, that means two amplifiers for each speaker. So why use an amplifier for each tweeter and bass/midrange? Because it gives you far more control over the performance of the speakers. And it means that each unit sounds as good as it can possibly be, without compromise. There are no losses like there are with traditional speaker crossovers.

To keep it all in check, Dynaudio has equipped the Focus 10 with sophisticated DSP (digital signal processing) technology. They’ve taken all the lessons they learned while creating their award-winning Focus XD, Xeo, LYD and Core ranges and used them to create a system that’s as effective as it is easy to use. Simply tell the speakers where they are in your room (near a wall, in a corner or in open space) and they’ll optimise their performance for that position. It’s all done easily and intuitively in the Dynaudio app, and if you want to delve even deeper into speaker calibration, there’s optional Dirac Live technology for completely bespoke results.

Even the magnetic grille has been cleverly designed by Dynaudio. The Focus 10 has specific EQ settings for when the grille is in use or not (you'll know it's the lower setting when you see the light briefly glow blue).

There's also muscle to go with the brain. With a total of 390W of Class-D Pascal amplification under the hood of each speaker (110W for the tweeter and 280W for the midrange/bass), the Focus 10 is ready to fill even a medium-sized room with high-quality sound. In fact, we'd say they fill more space than a speaker of their size has any right to. There's even an automatic fail-safe system to ensure the speakers aren't damaged when turned up to annoy the neighbors: A custom-designed sliding high-pass filter reduces the bass driver's fluctuations as the volume increases. So you can play loud with peace of mind.

Impressive devices, impressive technology

Inside the Focus 10 you'll find a 28mm Cerotar soft-dome tweeter, which uses techniques and materials developed during the creation of Dynaudio's acclaimed Confidence, Special Forty and Core series. This includes the internal Hexis dome, which sits just below the diaphragm and refines the airflow behind the playing surface to smooth out the frequency response and reduce unwanted resonances. The magnet system is optimised and uses a strontium carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic design, which increases treble sensitivity. It brings out incredible detail and ensures a natural treble response. This means extremely low levels of listener fatigue, so you can listen for longer. And with the Focus 10 you'll want to do just that.

The 14cm Esotec+ midrange and woofer is the best Dynaudio has ever created for a speaker of this size. They have created it using experience gained during the development of the new Contour series. The new and improved magnet system extends the frequency response at lower frequencies, and because the cabinet is closed, Dynaudio has been able to extend the low-frequency performance down to trouser-flattering depths.

As beautiful as that sound

The Focus 10 wouldn’t be a Dynaudio speaker if it didn’t look incredible.
